Inspirational Illustrator/Animator: Matthew Lyons

I was told of this dude, Matthew Lyons, from my classmate, friend, and fellow designer,Chloe Scheffe, and although it may seem redundant to post it after she just posted about it. I love his stuff and I have to show it to THE WORLD! I love his choices of type with image. Enjoy.

Haiti Relief Poster: Help Save Lives

I made this poster for one of my design classes to help raise awareness of Churches Helping Churches and Haiti's desperate need for help.

Beefaroni.

Unfortunately these funny little characters aren't cute enough to make me want to eat this big, beefy bowl of Boy-ar-dee. Although the description "juicy beef" is enticing.

Hot Dog!

I'm not really sure where I found this or how, but it sure makes me happy. I love random and hot dogs!

50's Drive In Signs And More!

Found these while researching for my identity class, in which I will be re-designing Suni's Pizza & Burgers in Shoreline, WA, right up the street from my place. Super old signage is Awesome!

Animal Family

Here's an assignment I did for my experimental type class. I had to make this out of random cut out letters found in magazines or books. I think it's some sort of deer family or something, you decide. It made me take a closer look at certain letter forms which was quite intriguing. Fun, fun, oh and did I mention fun. I think I like the color one better, I think it has a little more character ... I need to sleep.

Poster Design

I started a poster design class this quarter. These are both based on famous quotes our teacher gave us. Here are two of my finished pieces.

All the truth in the world adds up to one big lie. - Bob Dylan

Imagination is more important than knowledge. - Albert Einstein
(This one has a white background, It's also 11x17, you just can't see it.)

Barf Bold

I found this typeface while looking for inspiration for my experimental type project. I'm hoping my project will look a lot like this one ......... chuckle. With a name like barf bold how can you go wrong!

Adrian Johnson

Here's a bunch more inspiration from a graphic designer from the UK, Adrian Johnson. His stuff is so good.

Evel Knievel

Icy type with a nice cheesy play on words. I think the kid may have had one too many sky-sicles, he's forgotten to take the plastic off before eating it. I like the type treatment on EVEL with the bike.

LITTLE HIAWATHA (Disney, 1937)

Here's a random video I found while researching restaurants. It made me happy. This video is completely adorable. I only hope that someday I can make something as cute as this.

... and, yes, it has nothing to do with restaurants. It's amazing the little jems you can find while researching.

Great Stuff!

Here's some sweet inspiration from Esther Aarts, a Dutch Designer. It makes me happy. Sometimes if I don't wash myself every once and a while I develop this same problem.(Actually I believe this one was called spell checkin.)

He also does some amazing stuff with hand drawn type.

New Blog!
